Do I need prior experience of bookkeeping or accounts?

No, we will give you full and comprehensive training. However, you do need to have attention to detail, be numerate and have basic IT skills. You also be able to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.

Do I need to have an office?

No, the bookkeeping business can be run from home.

How do I find clients?

Clients will be small and medium sized businesses and firms of accountants. During our training we will show you how to promote your services and find clients.

Am I restricted to doing business in a certain area?

You can look for business in any area…there are no restrictions. Much of the work can be done remotely by computer so you may even have scope to work with clients further afield.

Do I need any special equipment?

You will need a computer/laptop and a printer/scanner. We will also supply you with specialist accounting software plus training on the Xero cloud accounting system.

What if clients have more complex tax or accounting issues?

We are a firm of qualified accountants and we will always be on hand to help you with queries. If your client does not have their own Accountant, we can also take care of organising year end accounts and tax returns.

How much can I earn?

Your earnings will depend on how much time you wish to devote to the business but we would say that your earnings should be an average of £20-25 per hour.

Do I need to have any insurance?

Yes, you will need professional indemnity insurance which we help arrange for you.
